Thursday, May 7, 2015 - The Lady Golden Eagle 4X800 relay team composed of (left to right) Holly Badger, Abbey Bullock,Audrey Pennington and Emily Clark proved to be a strong part of the Grace Track & Field Team.

On April27th at the CCS Invitational the girls decided to change things up a bit and run an alternate in the firstfour legs of the relay. The addition of Holly Badger proved to be the right change as the team took FirstPlace and broke the school record as well.

This season best mark proved to be fast enough and the4X800 relay team qualified for the Chattanooga Area Little Caesar’s Individual Championships on May1st at Red Bank High School. With the 8 Best of Preps runners qualifying in each event, the competitionwas some of the strongest that these young ladies had seen all year, and that is what was needed to push them onto another record-breaking finish, with a time of 11:35.23.

Today, they will seek to advance out of theRegion 3 A-AA Sub-Sectional. With a school record time already established at 11:35.23, this group of young ladies hopes to improve upon that time once again and qualify for a berth inthe State Meet later this May in Murfreesboro, TN.

Relay team breaks 15 year old school record.

On Friday, April 10th Holly Badger, Abby Bullock, Kayla Bibbs, and Emily Clark set out to break a 15-year old record. During the Optimist Southeastern Championships at Walker Valley High School, this group of young ladies accomplished just that.

The time to beat was 4 minutes and 56 seconds, a time that was set by Liz Euler, Katherine Euler, Berta Nelson, Margarette Wilson, and Katy Hall at the Central  Fellowship  Invitational in Macon, GA. "[The record] had stood long enough," said Katherine Euler, now an assistant track and field coach at Grace. "I am proud of our girls for their accomplishment!. Congratulations to our Lady Golden Eagles!"

Badger, Bibbs, Bullock, and Clark, pushed on by the strong competition provided by the field of athletes from over 40 schools, were able to accomplish their goal of breaking the 15-year old school record. They recorded a time of 4 minutes and 44.35 seconds.

"With a full month left before the Finals of the East Sectional we wonder how long this record may stand before it is replaced with an even better mark," remarked Head Coach Barry Hurlbut. "This is a great group of girls to coach, they always work hard and are real team-minded athletes."
