Grace Parent Association
The Grace Parent Association (GPA) was established to improve campus communication and enhance a positive school-wide atmosphere. Our goal is to encourage and support Grace Baptist Academy teachers and families & provide opportunities for parents to get involved in school functions and activities. The Grace Parent Association's theme "Called to Serve...Be a Blessing" is based on Romans 12:7-13 and Ephesians 12:5. Each of us has been called by God to serve wherever He plants us & be a blessing of encouragement in both action & word.
Jason & Lisa Smith will continue this year as GPA Co-Presidents. Both Jason & Lisa attended Grace Academy when the school opened its doors in 1985 and Jason is a 1993 Alumni. They have 2 children who have also attended Grace Academy. Austin began school at Grace in 2004 in the Pre-First class and graduated with honors in 2017. He will be attending MTSU this fall in the Honors College and plans to study Criminal Justice with the goal of being an FBI agent one day. Lauren started at Grace in 2006 and will be a sophomore this year. She is active in sports & you'll find her playing on the Lady Golden Eagles soccer team this fall. Chris Fisher will be returning as GPA's Treasurer and Jackie Fisher will be transitioning into a new GPA role as the Events Coordinator. Chris & Jackie have 4 boys. Joshua graduated from Grace Academy in 2017 and will be attending Milligan College this fall on a tennis scholarship. Zachary will be a senior at Grace Academy while Jonathan (4th grade) & David (2nd grade) will continue to be homeschooled. Chris and Jackie are so thankful for all the teachers, administrators and coaches at Grace and how they unselfishly pour into each child. That’s one of the reasons why they joined the GPA last year - to give back and say “Thank You” for all the ways the teachers invest in the students and invest in our school. Chris & Jackie can be reached via email at [email protected] or by cell phone 423-834-2366 (Chris) and 423-834-6065 (Jackie).
Jen Conner will be serving this year as the GPA Secretary. Jen has two daughters, Caroline (9th Grade) and Lucy (6th Grade). Both girls have been thrilled by their time spent at Camp Grace this summer. Caroline has served as a Counselor in Leadership Training and the experience has been a blessing for the whole family! The Conner family are sports enthusiasts and you no doubt will see them cheering on the Golden Eagles this year at many different events. Lucy enjoys golf and tennis while Caroline is gearing up for soccer, basketball and fall tennis! The Engineering Club is also an exciting opportunity that Caroline is looking forward to in the fall. Grace Academy has quickly become home for Jen and her girls and they are excited to serve their Grace Family. You may contact Jen via email at [email protected] or by cell phone at 423-827-3699.
Karen Gray has been a familiar face around Grace Academy & will be the Teacher Appreciation Coordinator this year, along with Linda Morgan. Karen & Wendell came to Grace when their son, Noah, was going into the 6 th grade. Noah will be in 11 th grade this year & playing several sports throughout the year. Many of you already know Karen’s daughter, Jennifer Rush, who has been teaching at Grace for 11 years in the Middle School as well as coaching. You will find Karen at most sporting events, either cheering on her son or 3 grandchildren, or volunteering with the Athletic Department in Concessions. Karen & her family love Grace Academy because Grace is about family and allows her children & grandchildren to grow in a family Christian school. “Maroon & Gold – that’s who we are. Go Eagles!” Karen can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by cell phone at 423-316-6003.
Linda Morgan will also be serving as a Teacher Appreciation Coordinator. Rick & Linda Morgan relocated to Chattanooga in July 2016 and their daughter Grace enrolled at the Academy. Grace will be a senior at GBA this year. She enjoyed singing in the High School Choir and Golden Voices, and also played "The Hag" in Little Women her first year at Grace Academy. This year Grace will be in the Color Guard for the Golden Eagle Marching Band. The Morgans are so thankful for an environment where their daughter can use her talents, grow spiritually, and be challenged academically. They are happy to see how the Grace Parent Association is such an encouragement to families, faculty and staff throughout the school year and they enjoy serving wherever needed with GPA. Mary Katherine Frees will be a Parent Representative Coordinator, along with Courtney Jenkins. Patrick and Mary Katherine have two children, Sydney, a 2nd grader at Grace, and Joseph, a three year old at Grace Children's Center. They are so grateful for the warm, loving environment at Grace Academy and the knowledge that both children are spending their school days in a place where they are surrounded by adults who love Jesus and love them. They have particularly enjoyed time spent volunteering together in concessions at athletic events. Mary Katherine can be reached via email at [email protected] or by cell phone at 423-400-6354.

She takes piano at school, is a Chattanooga Twister Cheerleader, and is also part of the Chattanooga Girls’ Choir. Their son Spence, who is starting Pre-K in the fall, enjoys playing baseball. The Jenkins live in Soddy Daisy and attend Dallas Bay Baptist Church. Their favorite family activity is spending the weekend on the boat, fishing, tubing, wake boarding, and enjoying time together. Courtney enjoys working with people & organizing events and raising funds for anything she is passionate about. Courtney loves participating with GPA because it allows her to be more involved with her child’s education and extra-curricular activities at the school. GPA also gives Courtney a chance to support and give back to the teachers and staff at Grace Baptist Academy who are pouring their heart, time, and energy into each child every day. Courtney can be reached via email at [email protected] or by cell phone at 423-506-9099.
